The perimeter of the triangle is 22 cm. One side of the triangle is three times larger than the second side, and the third side is 2 cm smaller than the second side. Find the sides of the triangle.

Let’s solve this problem by the equation.
Let x cm be the length of the second side of the triangle.
Then 3 * x cm is the length of the first side of the triangle.
Then (x-2) cm is the length of the third side of the triangle.
And since the perimeter of the triangle is 22 cm, then we compose the equation:
3 * x + x + (x – 2) = 22;
5 * x = 24;
x = 24/5 = 4.8 cm – the length of the second side of the triangle.
3 * x = 3 * 4.8 = 14.4 cm – the length of the first side of the triangle.
x-2 = 4.8-2 = 2.8 cm – the length of the third side of the triangle.
