The perimeter of the triangle is 44 cm. One of its sides is 4 cm smaller than the other

The perimeter of the triangle is 44 cm. One of its sides is 4 cm smaller than the other and 2 times larger than the third side. Find the sides of the triangle.

Let X cm, Y cm, Z cm – the length of the sides of the triangle. The perimeter is the sum of the sides of the triangle. Let us write down the conditions of the problem in the form of equations:
X + Y + Z = 44
X + 4 = Y
X = 2 * Z
Substitute the expression X from the third equation in the first two and get:
2 * Z + Y + Z = 44
2 * Z + 4 = Y
Substitute the Y expression from the second equation into the first:
3 * Z + 2 * Z + 4 = 44
5 * Z = 40
Z = 40/5
Z = 8
Then
Y = 2 * 8 + 4 = 20
X = 2 * 8 = 16

Answer: 8 cm, 16 cm, 20 cm.
