The perimeter of triangle ABC is 28 cm. Side BC is 2 times larger than side AB

The perimeter of triangle ABC is 28 cm. Side BC is 2 times larger than side AB, and side AC is 2 cm less than side BC. Find the sides of the triangle.

It is known that the perimeter of triangle ABC is 28 cm.

Let us denote the smaller of the sides AB “x” cm.

Considering that side BC is 2 times larger than side AB, it will be equal to “2x”.

Also, taking into account that the AC side is 2 cm less than the BC side, its length will be equal to “2x – 2”.

Since the perimeter of a triangle is equal to the sum of the lengths of its three sides, we compose the following equation.

x + 2x + 2x – 2 = 28,

5x = 30,

x = 30/5 = 6 cm, side length AB.

Let’s find the length of the BC side.

6 * 2 = 12 cm.

Let’s find the length of the AC side.

12 – 2 = 10 cm.
