| The perimeter of triangle ABC is 40 cm. Side BC is 5/7 of side AB, and side AC is 2 cm larger than AB. Finding the side of a triangle ABC
1. If we imagine that AB is equal to x, then BC will be 5x / 7, and AC is equal to 2 + x. Add all the sides to get the perimeter of the triangle. Let’s solve the resulting equation:
x + 5x / 7 + 2 + x = 40,
2x + 5x / 7 = 40 – 2,
14x / 7 + 5x / 7 = 38,
19x / 7 = 38,
19x = 38 * 7,
x = 266/19,
x = 14 cm.
2. Find BC and AC:
BC = 5 * 14/7 = 10 cm.
AC = 2 + 14 = 16 cm.
Answer: AB is 14 cm long, BC is 10 cm, AC is 16 cm.
