| The perimeter of triangle ABC is 55 cm. The AB side is 3 cm larger than the BC side, and the AC side is 3 times larger than the BC side. Find the sides of the triangle.
Let the length of the side BC = X cm, then AC = 3 * X cm, and the length of the side AB = (BC + 3) = (X + 3) cm.
The perimeter of the triangle is:
P = AB + BC + AC = 55 cm.
55 = (X +3) + X + 3 * X = 5 * X + 3.
5 * X = 55 – 3 = 52 cm.
X = BC = 52/5 = 10.4 cm.
AB = 10.4 + 3 = 13.4 cm.
AC = 3 * 10.4 = 31.2 cm.
Answer: The sides of the triangle are 10.4 cm, 13.4 cm, 31.2 cm.
