The plane and the helicopter are flying in the same direction. The speed of the aircraft is 720 km / h, and the speed of the helicopter is 300 km / h. Now there are 840 km between them. How long does it take for the plane to catch up with the helicopter?
The unknown time required for the plane to catch up with the helicopter is defined by the conditional variable “Y”.
Using the conditions of such an example and taking into account the formula for the speed, we get the following expression: Y x (720 – 300) = 840.
When we make the calculation, the result will be Y x 420 = 840 or Y = 840/420 = 2 hours.
Answer: in 2 hours the plane will overtake the helicopter.
