The political development of Italy and Germany at the end of the 19th century.

Both of these states were formed in the 1860s and 1870s, respectively, and therefore actively tried to join a number of developed European states, because they had all the capabilities for this. Both Italy and Germany tried to expand their influence through the creation of colonial possessions, especially in Africa. They did it with varying success, which in fact led them to participate in military-political blocs (Central States) and attempts to divide the world during the First World War.
