The pool is filled with water by means of two pipes. One pipe fills with water at a rate of 20 cubic meters / h, the second 30 cubic meters / h. How many hours will the volume of water in the pool reach 300 cubic meters?

The required unknown number of hours during which the pool will be completely filled if both pipes work simultaneously, we define by means of the conditional variable “Y”.
At the second stage, based on the data of this problem, we compose the following equation: Y = 300 / (20 + 30).
As a result of solving this equation, we get Y = 300/50 = 6 hours.
Answer: Two pipes will completely fill the pool in 6 hours.
