The process when a caterpillar turns into a butterfly.

The process of turning a caterpillar into a butterfly is called metamorphosis.
After birth, the caterpillar eats a lot of food in order to accumulate resources for turning into a butterfly. When the time comes for pupation, the caterpillar looks for a safe place – a leaf, a branch. For the cocoon, the butterfly uses its own silk thread, which hardens in the air. In case of danger, the pupae of some butterflies can change color, move and even make sounds. When enough time has passed, the butterfly crawls out of the cocoon.
