The pros and cons of peasant uprisings.

Peasant uprisings in the state broke out because of the peasants’ dissatisfaction with their position. They rebelled against boyar oppression and enslavement. On the one hand, they pushed the state to take active measures on the peasant question. They sought to draw the attention of the rulers to the problem. As a result of the uprisings, many peasants managed to escape from the landlords. But the negative features were the subsequent actions. The uprisings were brutally suppressed. The state rallied with conservative circles and pursued a reactionary policy. Consequently, liberal reforms in relation to the peasants were postponed.
