The quarry produced 500 m3 of sand per day. Determine the carrying capacity of one railway platform, if 30 platforms were required to transport sand.

Given:

V1 = 500 cubic meters – the amount of sand that was mined in the quarry per day;

N = 30 – the number of platforms required to transport all the sand;

ro = 1500 kilograms per cubic meter – the density of natural sand.

It is required to determine m (kilogram) – the carrying capacity of one platform.

Let’s find the capacity of the mass of all mined sand:

M = V1 * ro = 500 * 1500 = 750,000 kilograms.

Then the carrying capacity of one platform will be equal to:

m = M / n = 750,000 / 30 = 25,000 kilograms (25 tons).

Answer: the carrying capacity of one platform is 25,000 kilograms.
