The rate of photosynthesis depends on environmental factors, among which light, carbon dioxide concentration, water, temperature are emitted. Why are these factors limiting the reactions of photosynthesis?

These factors are limiting for photosynthesis, because directly affect its course.

1) Light is one of the main factors. Without it, the light phase is impossible, and accordingly, the dark phase will not occur. If you remove the plant in a dark place for several days, it will begin to turn yellow and then die.

2) Carbon dioxide is an indispensable component, because it is from it that the synthesis of carbohydrates will occur. No carbon dioxide – no substrate for synthesis.

3) During the light phase, photolysis (i.e. decomposition) of water occurs. If there is not enough water, then photosynthesis will simply not be able to proceed. In addition, water carries various substances through the vessels of the plant and maintains the turgor of the cells. When there is a lack of water, the stomata close to reduce moisture loss, and carbon dioxide does not enter the cells.

4) The activity of enzymes depends on the temperature. At too low temperatures, photosynthesis will not occur, as well as at too high (again, they close the stomata).
