As Ostap Bender said, vodka can be obtained from everything, even from a stool. It is impossible to get vodka from sawdust by one reaction. Sawdust is cellulose. If you subject it to hydrolysis, we get glucose – C6H12O6:
(C6H10O5) n + n H2O = n C6H12O6
Next, glucose is subjected to alcoholic fermentation, for which yeast is used as a catalyst, and ethyl alcohol – C2H5OH is obtained:
C6H12O6 = 2 С2Н5ОН + 2 СО2
A 40% solution is prepared from the resulting alcohol, adding water to it in a ratio of 2: 3 – there will be vodka.
