The reason for the existence of permafrost.

Territories of permafrost occupy a huge part of the land area of our planet. The soils contain ice, and the temperature of the earth always remains below zero. This is due to the extremely short summer period, during which the frozen part of the soil does not have time to warm up and remains frozen until the next arrival of winter. A large amount of moisture and lack of drainage also interfere with the melting of ice in the ground over the summer. Since ice continues to persist in the depths and there is nowhere for water to seep, it remains in the soil until frost.
