The reason for any palace coup is, to one degree or another, dissatisfaction with the existing ruler. Someone thinks that the existing ruler does not take the throne by inheritance, or his policy does not correspond to the interests of the ruling class. The essence of such coups was an attempt to become the throne in various ways (military coup, murder, etc.) of a person who either himself sought to become a ruler or would please his allies.
