The reasons for the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878.

At the end of the 19th century, another conflict arose between Russia and the Ottoman Empire. The reasons for the outbreak of this war were the following factors:

Russia strove to establish its dominance over the important straits;
Turkey sought to expand its influence in the Balkans;
The Russian tsar wanted to take revenge after the defeat in the Crimean War;
Russia itself acted as the defender of the Slavs in the Balkans, thus, there was a junction of interests with Turkey.
