Since the second is 5 cm larger, it will be equal to: a + 5 cm.
Divide the perimeter of the rectangle by 2.
In this case, we get the sum of the length and width.
54/2 = 27 cm.
The result will be:
a + a + 5 = 27.
2 * a = 27 – 5.
2 * a = 22.
a = 22/2 = 11 cm (rectangle width).
a + 5 = 11 + 5 = 16 cm (rectangle length).
Determine the area of the figure.
We multiply its length by width.
11 * 16 = 176 cm2
