| In the 19th century, the Russian Empire took an active position in foreign policy. At the beginning of the century, Alexander 1 waged victorious wars with Turkey, Iran, Sweden. In 1812 the country was invaded by the French. As a result of the Patriotic War, Russia’s authority in the world has grown. She initiated the creation of an international organization for the preservation of peace. Under Nicholas 1, a not very successful war was fought – the Crimean War (1853-1856). In the course of this event, the role of Russia in the Balkans decreased, it lost its influence in the world.
