In 1756-1760, France was ruled by Napoleon Bonaparte’s heir Napoleon 3. He did not manage to pull off the same successful actions in the country as his predecessor did. Napoleon III was not such a productive ruler. Under him, police arbitrariness and corruption were widespread. Voters were bribed, but there was practically no control. Napoleon III was forced to accept the information of the opposition, because his position was fragile. He introduced parliamentary responsibility and limited the monarchy. Democratic freedoms were extended.
