The role of gastric juice in digestion?

Gastric juice is a mixture of secretions from all the glands present in the stomach. The stomachs are of 3 types – cardiac, fundamental and pyloric. Functions of gastric juice:
Gastric juice is an antiseptic, killing almost all bacteria in food.
Pepsinogens are converted to pepsins and aid in protein digestion.
Iron absorption.
Gastric lipase helps with lipid digestion.
Intrinsic factor assists in the absorption of vitamin B12, which is responsible for hematopoiesis (the formation of cellular components in the blood).
