The scheme of government of the Roman Empire.

Traditionally in Russian historiography, it is believed that the Roman Empire existed from 27 BC. until 476 A.D. In 395, it was divided into two parts, East and West. The Eastern Roman Empire after the fall of Rome in history was called Byzantium and existed until 1453.
At the head was the emperor, whose title was inherited, but in practice more often passed from hand to hand during palace coups with the participation of the Praetorian Guard. And the period of the empire itself was characterized by the strengthening of the role of the bureaucracy. Management was divided between the Imperial Council and the Senate, to which the magistrates were subordinate.
