P = AB + BC + BC, where P is the perimeter of the triangle; AB, BC, BC – its sides;
AB = BC = 5 cm; BH – the height of the triangle, divides the base into segments AH = HC; BH = 4 cm;
By the Pythagorean theorem:
AH² = AB² – BH² = 25 – 16 = 9 (cm²); AH = HC = 3 cm;
AC = AH + HC = 6 cm;
P = 5 * 2 + 6 = 16 (cm).
