The sides of the first triangle are 0.8 m, 1.6 m and 2 m, and the perimeter of the second triangle
The sides of the first triangle are 0.8 m, 1.6 m and 2 m, and the perimeter of the second triangle, like this one, is 5.5 m. Find the sides of the second triangle.
Find the perimeter P1 of the first triangle:
Р1 = 0.8 + 1.6 + 2 = 2.4 + 2 = 4.4 m.
According to the condition of the problem, the perimeter P2 of the second triangle is 5.5 m.
Knowing the perimeters of two similar triangles, we can calculate the coefficient of similarity of these triangles:
k = 5.5 / 4.4 = 55/44 = 5/4.
Knowing the lengths of the sides of the first triangle and the coefficient of similarity of these triangles, we can calculate the lengths of the sides of the second triangle:
0.8 * 5/4 = 5 * 0.8 / 4 = 5 * 0.2 = 1 m;
1.6 * 5/4 = 5 * 1.6 / 4 = 5 * 0.4 = 2 m;
2 * 5/4 = 10/4 = 5 * 2 = 2.5 m.
Answer: the lengths of the sides of the second triangle are equal to 1 m, 2 m and 2.5 m.
