a = 5x, b = 7x by condition.
The perimeter of a rectangle is twice the product of its sides.
P = 2 * (a + b) = 2 * (5x + 7x), P = 240.
2 (5x + 7x) = 240.
5x + 7x = 120.
12x = 120.
x = 10.
a = 5 * 10 = 50.
b = 7 * 10 = 70.
Answer: a = 50, b = 70.
