The significance of Martin Luther’s activities for world civilization.

It is difficult to overestimate the work of Martin Luther for all mankind. The Reformation initiated by him led to the replacement of the single Catholic Church of Western Europe with a large number of national churches, which were no longer subordinate to the Pope, but to secular rulers. In connection with the need to study the Bible, the level of culture and education of the population of the Nordic countries has sharply increased: the number of parish schools and universities has grown significantly. The ideas of spiritual equality brought to life the principles of political equality. The development of the Reformation led to the gradual replacement of feudal relations in the economy with capitalist ones. The desire to save money, the rejection of expensive services helped to accumulate capital, which was invested in production and trade. As a result, the level of economic development of Protestant countries became higher than that of Catholic countries.
