The situation of slaves in Greece.

In ancient Greece, slaves were equated with property and were considered the thing of the master. The identity of the slave was abolished and therefore did not play a role in any sense. All acquired property was the property of the owner. Marriages could not be contracted without the consent of the master. Punishing slaves for petty misdemeanors by hunger torture was commonplace. If the slave committed a more serious crime, then he would face more severe punishments such as prison, wheeling, etc. The slave-owner from Sicily was surpassed in the level of senseless cruelty.
