| The sum of all the coefficients in the reduced ionic equation, the reaction between solutions of aluminum sulfate and barium chloride is
1. Al2 (SO4) 3 + 3BaCl2 = 3BaSO4 ↓ + 2AlCl3;
2.we write the equation in full ionic form:
2Al3+ + 3SO42- + 3Ba2+ + 6Cl– = 3BaSO4↓ + 2Al3+ + 6Cl–, remove identical ions from the right and left sides;
3. 3SO42- + 3Ba2+ = 3BaSO4↓, divide the whole equation by 3:
SO42- + Ba2+ = BaSO4↓, then the sum of the coefficients: 1 + 1 + 1 = 3.
