The sum of all the coefficients in the reduced ionic equation, the reaction between solutions

The sum of all the coefficients in the reduced ionic equation, the reaction between solutions of aluminum sulfate and barium chloride is

1. Al2 (SO4) 3 + 3BaCl2 = 3BaSO4 ↓ + 2AlCl3;

2.we write the equation in full ionic form:

2Al3+ + 3SO42- + 3Ba2+ + 6Cl = 3BaSO4↓ + 2Al3+ + 6Cl, remove identical ions from the right and left sides;

3. 3SO42- + 3Ba2+ = 3BaSO4↓, divide the whole equation by 3:

SO42- + Ba2+ = BaSO4↓, then the sum of the coefficients: 1 + 1 + 1 = 3.
