The purpose of the third crusade was the liberation of Jerusalem, as well as the return of other lost territories. The campaign itself took place in the period from 1189 to 1192. Nevertheless, despite all the efforts of the crusaders, Jerusalem still remained in the hands of the Muslims. On the other hand, the Crusaders managed to regain control over the lands of the Levant. The Muslims, for their part, allowed the pilgrimage of Christians to Jerusalem.
