The tourist covered the entire route at the same speed in 2 days. On the first day he was on the way for 7 hours, and on the second day 4 hours. On the second day he walked 12 km less than on the first. How fast did the tourist walk?

Let’s denote by x the speed of the tourist. Then, on the first day, the tourist covered a distance of 7 km, and on the second, 4 km. Knowing the difference between these distances, we write down the equation and find x from it:

7x = 4x – 12,

3x = 12,

x = 4 (km / h).

It turned out that the tourist covered the entire route at a speed of 4 km / h.
