The train left the station and moved uniformly for 20 seconds. Find the distance traveled by the train in 20 seconds
The train left the station and moved uniformly for 20 seconds. Find the distance traveled by the train in 20 seconds, if it is known that in the tenth second it covered the distance of 5 m.
Given:
t1 = 20 s – time during which the train was moving uniformly;
V0 = 0 m / s – initial train speed;
S = 5 m – the distance traveled by the train in the 10th second of movement.
It is required to find S1, the path of which the train traveled in time t1.
In 10 seconds, the train covers the path:
S (10) = a * 10 ^ 2/2 = 50 * a;
In 9 seconds, the train travels the distance:
S (9) = a * 9 ^ 2/2 = a * 81/2 = 40.5 * a.
Then:
S1 = S (10) – S (9) = 50 * a – 40.5 * a = 9.5 * a = 5, hence:
a = 5 / 9.5 = 0.53 m / s ^ 2.
S = a * t1 ^ 2/2 = 0.53 * 20 * 20/2 = 106 meters.
Answer: the distance traveled by the train in 20 seconds is 106 meters.
