The two apiaries had the same number of beehives: 7946 kg of honey were collected from one apiary, and 8631 kg from the other. How many beehives were there in each apiary, if the second one received 5 kg more honey from each beehive than the first one?

1) Determine how many kg of honey more collected from the second apiary, compared to the first:

8 631 – 7 946 = 685 (kg) – more.

2) Find out the number of hives in each apiary (from the condition we know that they are the same number):

685: 5 = 137 (hives) – on each of the two apiaries.

Answer: there are 137 hives in each apiary.

Let’s compose the inverse problem.

There are 137 hives in the first apiary. On the second – the same amount. From the first apiary they collected 7 946 kg of honey, and from the second – 8 631 kg. How much more kg of honey were obtained from one hive in the second apiary, compared to the first?
