The two rectangles have the same area. The length of the first is 16 cm of the second 12 cm. Find the perimeter of the first rectangle if the perimeter of the second is 32 cm.

P2 = 2 * a2 + 2 * b2 – the perimeter of the second rectangle
b2 = (P2 – 2 * a2) / 2 – width of the second rectangle
b2 = (32 – 2 * 12) / 2 = 4 cm
S2 = a2 * b2 – area of the second rectangle
S2 = 12 * 4 = 48 cm ^ 2
S1 = S2
S1 = a1 * b1 – area of the first rectangle
b1 = S1 / a1
b1 = 48/16 = 3 cm
P1 = 2 * a1 + 2 * b1
P1 = 2 * 16 + 2 * 3 = 38 cm
