The vegetable garden has the shape of a rectangle, the length of which is 16 m and the width is 14 m. 3/8 of the area of the garden is planted with tomatoes, and the remaining area is reserved for agurians. What area of the garden do cucumbers occupy?

1) We calculate the area of a rectangular garden, the length of which is 16 m, and the width = 14 m, according to the formula:
S = a * b = 16 * 14 = 224 m².
2) 3/8 of the garden is occupied by tomatoes, the rest by cucumbers, we will find what this is the share of the entire area:
1 – 3/8 = 8/8 – 3/8 = 5/8.
3) In order to find a part of an integer value, you must divide it by the denominator of the fraction and multiply by its numerator:
224: 8 * 5 = 28 * 5 = 140 m² – planted with cucumbers.
