The weight of one bag of cereals is 12 kg. The weight of the second bag is 4 kg less. Find the weight of both bags.

| To solve this problem, we introduce a conditional variable “X”, through which we denote the mass of both bags with cereals.
The first step is to determine the mass of the second bag of cereals.
As a result, we get that the mass of the second bag of cereals will be equal to 12 – 4 = 8 kilograms.
Then, based on the data of the problem, we will compose the following equation: X = 12 + 8.
Solving this equation, we get X equal to 20 kilograms.
Answer: the weight of both bags of cereal is 20 kilograms.
