The width of the rectangular field is 400 meters, and the length of the field is twice as long. This field was sown with potatoes and in the autumn they harvested an average of 32 tons of potatoes per hectare. How many potatoes were harvested from the entire field?
First of all, we find the length of the field, for which we multiply its known width by 2:
400 * 2 = 800 (m).
Now we calculate the area of this field, for which we calculate the product of length and width:
S = 400 * 800 = 320000 (m²).
Let’s translate the resulting value into hectares:
320,000 m2 = 32 ha.
According to the condition of the problem, 32 tons of potatoes were harvested from 1 hectare, so, we will find a crop from the entire field:
32 * 32 = 1024 (t).
Answer: 1,024 tons of potatoes were harvested from the entire field.
