Sex cells are otherwise called gametes. They contain a haploid, in other words, a single set of chromosomes (n). Somatic cells are diploid. that is, their cells have a double set of chromosomes (2n).
If in the germ cells of cabbage n = 9 chromosomes, then in somatic cells, respectively, 2n = 9 * 2 = 18 chromosomes.
