There are two trains running along two parallel tracks in the same direction: a freight train with a length of 630 m at a speed of 48.6 km / h and an electric train with a length of 120 m at a speed of 102.6 km / h. How long will the electric train overtake the freight train?

1. Take the end of the freight train as a starting point. Then the speed of the train relative to it will be: 102.6 – 48.6 = 54 km / h or 54 * 1000/3600 = 15 m / s.
2. The path will be: 630 + 120 = 750 m.
3. Determine the overtaking time: t = S / V = 750/15 = 50 s.
Answer: Will overtake 50 seconds.
