| There is a square with sides of 12 cm. Straight lines were drawn through the middle of the sides, breaking the square into 4 identical figures. What is the area of each of the new shapes?
The side of the square is 12 cm;
The square was divided into 4 parts;
Find the area of the new shape.
Decision
First, we find the area of the square.
1) 12 × 12 = 144 cm2;
