Three capacitors of the same capacity C1 = C2 = C3 = 12 μF are connected in series. Determine their equivalent capacity.
September 1, 2021 | education
| To find the value of the equivalent capacity of the created battery, we will use the formula (we take into account that the capacitors used have the same electrical capacity): 1 / C = k / C1, from where we express: C = C1 / k.
Variables: C1 – capacity of each of the three capacitors used (C1 = 12 μF); k is the number of capacitors (k = 3 pcs.).
Calculation: C = C1 / k = 12/3 = 4 μF.
Answer: The created battery has an equivalent capacity of 4 μF.
