Three identical bodies are completely immersed in one and the same liquid. The first is pewter, three times lead, the third is a body of wood. Which of them is affected by the least Archimedean force?
If the bodies have the same mass:
Given:
m1 = m2 = m3 = m – the mass of the bodies is the same;
ro1 = 7300 kg / m ^ 3 – tin density;
ro2 = 11300 kg / m ^ 3 – lead density;
ro3 = 450 kg / m ^ 3 – wood density;
g = 10 m / s ^ 2 – acceleration of gravity.
It is required to determine the smallest Archimedean force.
Since all bodies are immersed in the same liquid (density ro), then:
A1 = ro * V1 * g = ro * m / ro1 * g = ro * m / 73000;
A2 = ro * V2 * g = ro * m / ro2 * g = ro * m / 113000;
A3 = ro * V3 * g = ro * m / ro3 * g = ro * m / 4500.
Since ro * m / 113000 <ro * m / 73000 <ro * m / 4500, the smallest Archimedean force acts on a body of lead.
If, according to the condition of the problem, the bodies have the same volume, then an equal Archimedean force acts on all bodies.
