Three machines brought 15 tons of coal to the coal warehouse. The mass of coal, which was brought in the first and in the second machine, is mutually equal. The mass of coal, which was brought in the third car, is more than the mass of coal that was brought in the first in the car by 1.5 tons. How many tons of coal brought in a third car?

Let’s write down the condition of the problem and compose an equation.

Let x (m) be the mass of one machine,

then (x + x = 2 * x) (t) is the volume of two machines with coal (the volumes of the two machines are the same)

and (x + 1.5) (t) is the mass of the third car, taking into account that the mass of the third car is 1.5 tons more than the mass in the first car,

while the total mass of coal in 3 machines is 15 tons.

(2 * x) + (x + 1.5) = 15.

2 * x + x = 15 – 1.5.

3 * x = 13.5.

x = 13.5 / 3 = 4.5 tons.

The volume of one machine is 4.5 tons, then 2 (mash) * 4.5 (t) = 9 (t) is the mass of coal in two machines and 4.5 (t) + 1.5 (t) = 6 (t) – the mass of coal in the third machine, in this case, 9 (t) + 6 (t) = 15 (t) – the total mass of coal in 3 machines coincides with the condition of the problem.

Answer: 6 tons of coal were brought in the third vehicle.
