To 100 g of a solution of hydrochloric acid with a mass fraction of 20%, a solution of potassium carbanate is added, find the volume of the evolved gas.

2HCl + K2CO3 = 2KCl + H2O + CO2.
During the reaction, carbon dioxide is released.
1) Find the mass of the acid substance in its solution. To do this, we multiply the mass fraction of the substance by the mass of the solution and divide by one hundred percent: 100 * 20/100 = 20g.
2) According to the periodic table, we find the molar mass of hydrochloric acid: 1 + 35.5 = 36.5.
3) Amount of hydrochloric acid substance: 20 / 36.5 = 0.55 mol.
According to the reaction equation, there is one mole of carbon dioxide for two moles of hydrochloric acid. This means that the amount of carbon dioxide substance is: 2 * 0.55 = 1.1 mol.
4) The volume of carbon dioxide is: 1.1 * 22.4 = 24.64 liters – the answer.
