| To 200 g of a solution with a mass fraction of sodium chloride of 24% was added 20 g of water. Determine the mass fraction of salt in the new solution.
Given: m (solution) – 200g
ω1 (NaCl) – 24%
m (H2O) – 20g
find: ω2 (NaCl)
ω = m (salt) / m (salt solution) * 100%
mass of salt in the original solution: 24% = x / 200 * 100%
X = 24 * 200/100
X = 48 g
The mass of the resulting solution: 200 g + 20 g = 220 g.
mass of salt in the resulting solution: x = 48g / 220g * 100%
X = 22%
Answer: ω2 (NaCl) = 22%
