To a solution of potassium hydroxide was added a solution of aluminum

To a solution of potassium hydroxide was added a solution of aluminum chloride weighing 30 g. Calculate the mass of the precipitate formed.

The equation of the ongoing reaction: 3NaOH + AlCl3 = 3NaCl + Al (OH) 3.
The precipitate is aluminum hydroxide.
1) Find the molar mass of aluminum chloride. To do this, we will use the periodic table: 27 + 3 * 35.5 = 133.5.
2) Find the amount of aluminum chloride substance. To do this, we divide the mass by the molar mass: 30 / 133.5 = 0.22 mol.
3) Find the amount of sediment substance. According to the reaction equation, there is one mole of aluminum hydroxide per mole of aluminum chloride. This means that the amount of sediment substance is 0.22 mol.
4) Sediment weight: 0.22 * 78 = 17.16 g – answer.
