To a solution weighing 200 g by mass fraction of HCl 7.3% was added 150 g of a solution containing 8% sodium hydroxide. Calculate the chemical quantities of the starting materials and the mass of the formed salt.
Reaction equation: HCl + NaOH = NaCl + H2O.
1) Find the mass of the solute of hydrochloric acid in its solution. To do this, we multiply the mass fraction of the substance by the mass of the solution and divide by one hundred percent: 200 * 7.3 / 100 = 14.6 g.
2) Find the amount of hydrochloric acid substance. To do this, divide the mass by the molar mass: 14.6 / 36.5 = 0.4 mol.
3) Find the mass of the sodium hydroxide solute: 150 * 8/100 = 12g.
4) Find the amount of sodium hydroxide substance: 12/40 = 0.3 mol.
Lack of sodium hydroxide. We calculate on it.
5) Mass of sodium chloride: 0.3 * 58.8 = 17.55g.
Answer: The amount of hydrochloric acid substance is 0.4 mol, sodium hydroxide – 0.3 mol. The mass of the formed salt is 17.55 g.
