Two boats departed from the pier in different directions. What is the distance between them in 5 hours if their speed is the same – 20 km / h, and the speed of the river is 5 km / h
1) Let us determine at what speed the boat moved against the river flow, if we know that the speed of the current is 5 km / h, and the boat moved at a speed of 20 km / h.
20 – 5 = 15 km / h.
2) find out at what speed the boat was going along the river, if its speed was 20 km / h, and the speed of the current was 5 km / h.
20 + 5 = 25 km / h.
3) Determine how far the boats moved from each other.
25 + 15 = 40 km.
4) Find out the distance between the boats in 2 hours.
40 * 2 = 80 km.
Answer: in 2 hours the distance between the boats is 80 km.
