Two boys go to meet each other. Now there are 12 km between them. The speed of one of them is 2/3 the speed of the other. Find the speed of movement of each boy if it is known that they will meet in 1.5 hours.

1. Let X km / h be the speed of the first boy.
2. Then the speed of the second is 2 / 3X km / h.
3. The distance between them is 12 km, which they will cover in 1.5 hours.
4. Let’s compose and solve the equation.
(X + 2 / 3X) * 1.5 = 12;
1.5X + X = 12;
2.5X = 12;
X = 12 / 2.5;
X = 12 / 25/10;
X = 120/25;
X = 48/10;
X = 4.8 km / h – the speed of the first boy.
5. Find the speed of the second boy, since it is known that it is 2/3 of the speed of the first.
2/3 * 4.8 = 2/3 * 48/10 = 96/30 = 32/10 = 3.2 km / h
