Two buses left cities A and B towards each other at the same time. Both the first and the second bus moved without delay, at a uniform speed. After they met, the first bus has another 25 km to go to city B, and the second to city A – another 30 km. What is the speed of the first bus? what is the speed of the second bus?

According to the condition, the bus that was traveling from city A did not reach city B 25 km, and the second bus left 30 km to city A. Therefore, the first bus has already traveled 30 km, and the second – 25 km. Considering that the condition does not indicate in any way the time when the buses met, therefore, it is possible to designate the time it took to meet as a variable T hours and derive the ratio for the speeds.

Then the first bus (from city A) was moving at a speed:

v = s / t = 30 / T km / h;

And the second bus (from city B) was moving at a speed:

v = s / t = 25 / T km / h.
