Two carts are moving towards each other. The first trolley weighing 0.75 kg has a speed of 2 m / s, the second has a speed of 6 m / s. After the collision, the carts stop. Determine the mass of the second cart.

These tasks: oncoming traffic; m1 (mass of the first cart) = 0.75 kg; V1 (speed of the first bogie before collision) = 2 m / s; V2 (speed of the second bogie before collision) = 6 m / s; V (speed of bogies after collision) = 0 m / s.

Since the carts in question stopped after the collision, before the collision they had the same impulses: m1 * V1 = m2 * V2, whence m2 = m1 * V1 / V2.

Calculation: m2 = 0.75 * 2/6 = 0.25 kg.

Answer: The mass of the second cart is 0.25 kg.
