Two conductors are connected in parallel in the circuit. The resistance of one is 120 ohms, the other is 40 ohms. What is the resistance of the circuit section?

As we know from the current physics course, the resistance of a circuit, when two conductors are connected in parallel, can be calculated as the ratio of the product of the resistances of these conductors to their sum.

We determine through how many ohms the resistance of the circuit will express in our case, when from the condition of the task we know that the resistance of the first conductor is 120 ohms, while the second is 40 ohms:

120 * 40: (120 + 40) = 30.

Answer: The resistance of the indicated circuit will be equal to 30 ohms.
